Sevilla reach agreement in principle for Aleix Vidal signing
Barcelona and Sevilla are close to confirming the transfer of Aleix Vidal to his fomer club. After various weeks of negotiations and time spent waiting for other transfer deals to go through, it appears Vidal is finally heading back to Sevilla. According to SPORT's sources, the deal will be for €8m and a further €2m in variables.
This is a transfer both parties are interested in finalising as soon as possible. Barcelona are keen to generate funds in order to strengthen other areas of their squad while Sevilla want their transfer business wrapped up this week. With Joaquin Correa confirming his move to Lazio, it's allowed the deal for Vidal to move forward.
Vidal is still getting minutes for Barcelona on their US tour. Now the two sides have reached an agreement, the player is expected to leave the US training camp and return to Spain in order to sign a contract with his new club.
Real Madrid’s coach has a minor problem with his vision which means he has to protect his eyes from the sun’s ultraviolet rays.
It’s a question which many madridistas have asked: “Why does Lopetegui always wear wraparound sunglasses during Real Madrid’s training sessions?”. The Madrid coach is never seen without his prescription sunglasses when the sun is out and while his look might make him appear like one of the Men in Black, it’s actually due to a minor problem with his vision. For medical reasons, he needs to protect his eyes from the sun’s UVA rays.
Gotta wear shades
For Sergio Ramos, Isco and the rest of Madrid’s Spanish internationals, it’s nothing new - Lopetegui also wore his sunglasses during his time with the national team and is used to explaining why he has to wear them to new players. In Miami, he is at high risk of exposure to UVA, especially in July – even when it rains. That’s why it was a bit surprising to see Lopetegui, soaking wet but still with his sunglasses on while it poured down during a thunderstorm in Sunday’s session, the squad’s first in Miami.
Michy Batshuayi has endured a rocky start to his Chelsea career but the road ahead could be much smoother.
Since joining from Marseille two years ago, the Belgian striker has started just four Premier League matches.
Batshuayi was lent to Borussia Dortmund for the second half of last season and had been lined up by Valencia for another loan stint, but new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri reportedly has other plans.
According to the Evening Standard, Sarri wants to block Valencia's loan move for Batshuayi as he is keen for the 24-year-old to become a key part of his first-team squad.
Batshuayi has yet to return to Chelsea this summer after spending much of June and July away with Belgium at the World Cup.
Upon his return he is expected to demand assurances that he will be involved much more than he was during former manager Antonio Conte's reign at Stamford Bridge.
He scored 19 goals in all competitions for Conte, but found himself behind Diego Costa and then Alvaro Morata in the Italian's plans.
Chelsea were interested in signing Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli this summer, but missed out when AC Milan won the battle for his signature.
As a result, Chelsea are likely to keep Morata to compete with Batshuayi for a starting spot up front, leaving Olivier Giroud as third choice.
Marseille have Giroud on their radar and Sarri could be tempted to let him leave, either on loan or permanently if the price is right.
